Grace Collins Named United Soccer Coaches D1 National Player of the Week

HOUSTON — The awards continue for forward Grace Collins who was named the United Soccer Coaches Division I National Player of the Week.
The distinction comes two days after being named to the CollegeSoccerNews National Team of the Week.
Collins becomes just the second Owl in program history to be named the National Player of the Week, joining Amy McClintock in 2006.
She scored all three goals in Rice two victories. She began the week by scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over UTEP. Collins opened the scoring in the fifth minute, taking a pass and putting it into the right corner. She pushed the lead to two in the 51st minute, giving the Houston native her second brace of the year. She then scored the only goal in a 1-0 shutout at Charlotte, breaking a deadlock in the 57th minute. Her performance helped Rice keep first-place in Conference USA with a 7-0 record. She's also second in the league in both goals (7) and points (21) while leading the league with seven assists.
