
Rice Duo Earn Weekly Honors

HOUSTON — After Rice Soccer earned a pair of shutouts, forward Grace Collins was named to the CollegeSoccerNews National Team of the Week and goalkeeper Bella Killgore earned her second straight Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week award.
The duo helped lead the Owls to shutout of UTEP and Charlotte.
Collins scored all three goals in the two games. She opened the win by scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over UTEP. Collins opened the scoring in the fifth minute, taking a pass and putting it into the right corner. She pushed the lead to two in the 51st minute, giving the Houston native her second brace of the year. She then scored the only goal in a 1-0 shutout at Charlotte, breaking a deadlock in the 57th minute. Her performance helped Rice keep first-place in Conference USA with a 7-0 record. She's also second in the league in both goals (7) and points (21) while leading the league with seven assists.
Killgore picked up a pair of shutouts helping Rice to two victories on the week. She opened the week facing eight shots, making two saves in a 2-0 victory over UTEP that gave her her 43rd career victory to set the Rice school record. At Charlotte, she earned her third straight shutout in a 1-0 victory. She faced 25 shots, making nine saves, including a diving stop in the 82nd minute that kept the victory in tact. With her performance on the week, she now has 362 career saves to pass DePaul's Lindsey Deason for fourth-place on C-USA's all-time save list. It is her seventh career Goalkeeper of the Week award.
