Rice back in action on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
HOUSTON - The Rice Owls women's track & field team was back in action on Friday competing on day one of the UH G5 & Super 22 Invitational, partaking in eight total events at Yeoman Fieldhouse.
A week after breaking her own school record in the weight throw, sophomore All-American thrower Tara Simpson-Sullivan earned her third career victory in the event with a winning mark on Friday of 20.88m on her fifth attempt.
Rice finished No. 3 and No. 4 in the 800m with Alyssa Balandran (2:16.51) placing ahead of Taigen Hunter-Galvan (2:17.59). Senior Lourdes Vivas de Lorenzi established a PR in the mile, finishing fifth in 5:05.23.
