Lamar and Prairie View A&M
In Brief: Rice welcomes two familiar foes to GRBTC on Saturday as the Owls host Lamar and Prairie View A&M in the first to two doubleheaders they have scheduled in 2022.
Live Scoring/Video
The Owls: Rice is 0-1 after dropping a marathon 4-3 loss to Denver on January 16. The Owls picked up singles wins from Emir Sendogan, Adam Oscislawski, and Trinity Grear, but the Pioneers win of the doubles point proved to be the difference.
George R. Brown Tennis Center: Rice is 64-28 in dual action since moving into their current home in the fall of 2014. They are 9-6 in C-USA play and 6-11 all-time against ranked opponents.
Lamar: This will be the 26th meeting between Rice and Lamar with the Owls holding a 25-1 lead in the series. They have met every season since 2003, other than 2020 when the match was part of the remaining schedule canceled due to the pandemic. Rice has won the last four meetings. Lamar is 1-1 so far this year after splitting matches with Bryant and Oklahoma State last weekend in Stillwater.
Prairie View A&M: This is the 16th meeting between Rice and Prairie View (15 consecutive) with the Owls holding a 15-0 lead in the series. The Panthers are 0-4 on the season, having dropped a pair of doubleheaders to open the season (at SMU on January 13 and at Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Thursday).
Up Next: Rice continues the homestand next weekend with another doubleheader. They host UTRGV at 10 a.m. and return to face Trinity at 3 p.m.
