Lettenberger Named to National Team

2022 U.S. Paralympics Swimming Team
Rice junior Ahalya Lettenberger is one of 42 athletes named to the 2022 U.S. Paralympics Swimming national team, as announced on Thursday. The roster consists of 25 women and 17 men who will be competing this season in preparation for the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal in June.
Lettenberger won a silver medal representing the United States in the women's S7 200 Individual Medley at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games this past summer and won a silver medal in the S7 400 freestyle and the 2019 world championships in London.
She set a pending American short course record in the 400 yard IM while competing for Rice at the Phill Hansel Invitational in November. She was clocked in 5:48.60, bettering the previous mark of 5:57.48 by Courtney Jordan in January of 2021.
She and her Rice teammates will be back in action on Saturday when they host Conference USA foe North Texas at the Rice Competition Pool at 1 p.m.
National team athletes will compete in a series of World Para Swimming world cup competitions, including a domestic stop in Indianapolis, Indiana, this spring leading up to the world championships in June.
