No. 14 Rice Hosts Crosstown Rival Houston in Battle of Unbeatens

HOUSTON — The 14th-ranked Rice Soccer team will host crosstown rival Houston in a battle of unbeaten teams this Thursday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be streamed by CUSAtv.

Scouting Rice
• Head Coach Brian Lee is in his third season at the helm of the Rice soccer program. He holds a 29-9-5 record and is 316-197-60 in 24 years as a head coach.
• The Owls are 5-0-1 after playing to a 1-1 tie against Texas last Sunday.
• Junior midfielder Delaney Schultz is second in Conference USA in both goals (4) and points (12). She also leads the team with four assists, 19 shots and 12 shots on goal.
• Junior defender/forward Caleigh Boeckx is second on the team with two goals, three assists and seven points.
• Goalkeeper Bella Killgore has allowed just four goals, leading C-USA with a 0.63 goals against average, an 88.2% save percentage and 30 saves.
• The Owls are outscoring the opposition, 13-to-4 and have recorded 44 points to the opposition's 11.
• Rice returns its top eight goal scorers from last year, led by second year freshman Mikala Furuto who tallied six goals, as well as Schultz and junior Madison Kent, who added five apiece.

• Graduate transfer forward Zionah Browne leads the Cougars with eight points behind a goal and six assists.

• Preseason All-American Athletic Conference member Jazmin Grant has a goal and two assists after leading the team last year with six goals and 15 points.
