Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Texas A&M Invitational

Landa 5th overall
COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Rice Owls men's cross country team placed third overall in their second meet of the season at Saturday morning's Texas A&M Invitational.
Rice placed all five of their scorers inside the Top-20, led by a fifth place result from senior Hociel Landa (23:55.8). Landa ran a 4:36 pace in the 8k race and was up to No. 2 at the 5.7k split. Sophomore Travis Dowd posted another strong performance in the young season by finishing 11th overall (24:15.6) followed immediately by senior Alex Topini (12th-24:18.7).
Elliot Metcalf (15th-24:23.6) and Andrew Abikhaled (19th-24:31.1) rounded out the Owls' group of five as they finished behind only North Texas (43) and Texas A&M (44) in the team scoring.
The Owls have one more scheduled race before the C-USA Championships, racing again on Oct. 15 at the FSU Pre-Nationals contest in Tallahassee, Florida.
