Ahalya Lettenberger sprinted past three rivals in the final 15 meters to win the silver medal in the women's S7 200 IM at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic games on Friday.
Lettenberger finished in 3:02.82, improving from 3:05.06 in the preliminaries, edging Australia's Tiffany Thomas Kane by .29 while Canada's Danielle Dorris was fourth in 3:06.16. Lettenberger's previous best finish on an international stage in the 200 IM was a fourth place finish at the 2019 World Championship in London.
Lettenberger will look to add a second medal on at 3:05 a.m. (central) on Sunday in the 400 freestyle. She won a silver medal in this event at the 2019 World Championships.
