
Simpson-Sullivan Breaks Own Record Again

Wins hammer throw with mark of 65.53m
HOUSTON - For a second time this season, Rice thrower Tara Simpson-Sullivan broke her own school record in the hammer throw by recording a winning throw of 65.53m at Saturday's UH Alumni Invitational.
Simpson-Sullivan, from Penrith, England, bested her own previous mark of 64.89m set last month at the Rice Invitational. Her throw of 65.53m performed on Saturday currently ranks ninth in the NCAA this outdoor season.
Junior distance runner Natalie Goddard also picked up her first career victory in the 1500m with a time of 4:50.06 while sister Loren Goddard finished third (5:01.17) in the same event.
The Owls will return to action next weekend when they partake in the Texas A&M Invitational, Apr. 9-10.
