Final home matches of 2021 next weekend
In Brief: The 28th ranked Rice women's tennis team bounced back from a loss on Friday to blank USF 4-0 at the FIU Tennis Courts. Rice improved to 12-4 on the season with the win.
Doubles: The Owls jumped on the Bulls early, sweeping to the doubles point thanks to a 6-1 win by Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi at the first line and a 6-3 decision for Linda Huang and Victoria Smirnova at the third line.
Singles: The Owls raced to first set wins in four of six singles sets and maintained that pace with wins by Anastasia Smirnova, Linda Huang and Michaela Haet (clincher) while Federica Trevisan was up and set and leading 5-0 at the second line when the match was clinched.
Up Next: The Owls will close out the 2021 home schedule next weekend when they join with the Rice men's team to host SMU on Saturday and Prairie View on Sunday. Both matches are set for 11 a.m. first serves. Sunday's match will serve as Senior Day for the women's team.
