Martin Leads Golf at Conference USA Championships

Texarkana, Ark. — Freshman golfer Rodrigo Martin fired a one-under par 71 to lead the Rice golf team after one round of the Conference USA Championships.
Martin is tied for 10th-place. The 71 is his team-high tying fourth round of par or better this year.
Juniors Harrison Hineline and Jack Diamond are tied for 24th-place after carding a two-over par 74. Senior Rishi Kejriwal posted a three-over 75 to sit in a 31st-place tie and senior Jake Benson is tied for 63rd-place after carding an 81.
Rice is tied for sixth-place with No. 38 UAB and Old Dominion, five strokes behind Louisiana Tech for fourth-place.
UTSA's Chad Sewell and UAB's Khavish Varadan lead the individual tournament at four-under par, one stroke in front of Southern Miss' Matt Lorenz and La Tech's Sam Murphy.

The second round begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. Rice will tee off beginning at 8 a.m. from hole No. 10 and is paired with student-athletes from Middle Tennessee and UTEP.
