SAN ANTONIO - The Rice Owls women's track & field team closed out the final day of the Roadrunner Invitational by winning two events and placing four athletes in the top three Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Park West Athletics Complex.

Graduate transfer Maryam Hassan picked up her third victory of the outdoor season in the triple jump, saving her best effort for her final attempt by recording a distance of 12.16m (39-10.75). Hassan currently holds the sixth-best C-USA mark in the triple jump this outdoor season.

Junior KC Nwadei cleared 1.69m (5-06.50) to win her second high jump competition of the season and of her career. The Katy, Texas native also competed in the triple jump with Hassan, finishing fourth overall with a distance of 11.72m (38-05.50).

The C-USA leader in the discus throw, junior Julie Perez earned a second place result in the event with a toss of 51.56m (169-02). It marked her sixth top-three finish in the discus this outdoor season.

Also earning a top-three finish for the Owls on Saturday was sophomore distance runner Alyssa Balandran, who placed third in the 1500m with a time of 4:48.28.

The Owls will now prep for their final home meet of the outdoor season when they host the 17th annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Saturday, April 24.
