Dallas, Texas — Junior Harrison Hineline carded a one-over par 72 to lead the Rice golf team in the opening round of the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Hineline is tied for 13th-place after day one. The 72 tied his season-low score.
The Rice golf team finished the day in 13th-place after carding a 301.
Freshman Rodrigo Martin posted a two-over par 73 to sit in a 21st-place tie. Senior Rishi Kejriwal posted a 77 to sit in a tie for 57th-place.
Junior Austin Escamilla is in 66th-place after carding a 79 and senior Jake Benson posted an 83 to sit in a tie for 74th-place.
No. 13 SMU leads the team tournament at even par, two strokes in front of No. No. 18 North Texas. SMU's Noah Goodwin leads the individual tournament at four-under par. There is a three-way tie for second-place at one-under par.

The second round begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with the Owls teeing off at 10:00 a.m. Rice will compete in groups with student-athletes from Ball State and Louisville. Tuesday's tee times and pairings will depend on results following tomorrow's round.
