
Landa Competes at NCAA Championships

Places 139th out of 255 qualifiers
STILLWATER, Okla. - Rice distance runner Hociel Landa represented the Owls at Monday's NCAA Cross Country Championships, placing 139th overall out of 236 competitors at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course.
Landa, who was running at his first NCAA Championships, was competing under unique circumstances. The Phoenix, Ariz. native was just a couple weeks removed from placing fifth in the 5000m at the C-USA Indoor Championships and then a week later placed third in the 3000m steeplechase to open the outdoor season at the Texas Invite meet.
Landa qualified for the NCAA Championships by placing fourth overall at the C-USA Championships with a time of 24:11. back on Oct. 31, 2020, Rice's lone cross country meet of the fall season.
