Forbes Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week

Sophomore totaled 22.5 points at C-USA Championships
NEW ORLEANS – Rice sophomore distance runner Grace Forbes secured the first ever USTFCCCA indoor National Athlete of the Week by an Owl, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Forbes was the High Point Scorer (22.5 points) at last weekend's Conference USA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Alabama after winning both the mile and 3000m while also running the anchor leg of the winning distance medley relay.
Forbes repeated as the mile champion by breaking both the C-USA meet and school record with a winning time of 4:37.53, which ranks 12th in the NCAA this season. She later secured gold in the 3000m with a time of 9:18.76, winning by more than 20 seconds.
The day prior, Forbes helped lead the Owls distance medley relay rally from eighth place to first on her sensational 4:37 MR performance.
As a team, the Rice women are ranked 30th in the country in the latest USTFCCCA Team Indoor Rankings.
