HOUSTON - Following a pair of wins to start Conference USA action, the Rice Owls volleyball team now hits the road for the first time in league play with a pair of matches at Southern Miss. The Owls are coming off a series sweep of Louisiana Tech while the Golden Eagles will be making their C-USA debut and playing their first match since Feb. 2.

HOUSTON - Following a pair of wins to start Conference USA action, the Rice Owls volleyball team now hits the road for the first time in league play with a pair of matches at Southern Miss. The Owls are coming off a series sweep of Louisiana Tech while the Golden Eagles will be making their C-USA debut and playing their first match since Feb. 2.
NOTES
- Rice senior outside hitter Nicole Lennon and junior setter Carly Graham took home the Conference USA Offensive and Setter of the Week awards, respectively, the league office announced on Tuesday. Lennon totaled 25 kills over six sets (4.17 kills per set) all while hitting .353 in the two victories. On Sunday, Lennon became the fifth player in Rice history to surpass 1,500 career kills. For the season, Lennon has totaled 105 kills over 22 sets and is averaging 4.77 kills per frame. Graham dished out 63 total assists over the six sets (10.50 per game) and began the weekend with a 33-assist effort. She then followed that up with a 30-assist/11-dig double-double. Graham helped orchestrate a Rice offense that hit .362 as a team for the weekend.
- Lennon currently ranks second in the NCAA among active players in career kills (1,517), sixth in kills per set (4.12), and third in total attacks (3,996).
- Through six matches, Lennon currently ranks 11th in the NCAA in points per set (5.48) and is 12 in kills per set (4.77).
- Graham ranks second among all C-USA setters in assists per set (10.41) and is third in total asissts (229).
- Freshman Nia McCardell is third among all C-USA players in total digs (90).
- Junior transfer DS/libero Elizabeth LaBue enters play this weekend just 22 digs shy of 1,000 for her collegiate career.
- Coming off a season in which they won 27 matches, the Owls were picked to win the Conference USA West Division in this year's Coaches' Poll.
- Lennon and junior middle blocker Anota Adekunle were named to this year's 12-person C-USA Preseason All-Conference Team.
- Rice returns four starters and eight letterwinners from last year's team and will be incorporating six newcomers.
- The top four teams in each division will qualify for the C-USA Volleyball Championship. Southern Miss will host the eight-team, single-elimination tournament April 1-3 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
