Golf Closes Play at Trinity Forest Invitational

Dallas, Texas — The Rice golf team carded a final round 303 to close the Trinity Forest Invitational in 13th-place (903).
Freshman Raghav Chugh, in just his second career tournament, led the Owls in a tie for 35th-place, closing with a 76 to finish six-over par. Senior Jack Diamond tied for 53rd-place at 11-over par after posting a 76. Sophomore Rodrigo Martin had Rice's best round of the day, posting a 73 to finish 14-over par in a 59th-place tie.
Senior Jake Benson tied for 63rd-place at 15-over par after finishing with a 78. Senior Harrison Hineline carded a 76 to tie for 69th-place at 17-over par while junior Forrest Park posted an 83 to finish 22-over par in a 72nd-place tie.
Host SMU won the team competition at 26-under par, 18 strokes in front of second-place UT-Arlington. SMU's Noah Goodwin earned medalist honors at 15-under par, seven strokes in front of UTA's Paul Gonzalez and Jansen Smith of Little Rock.

Rice returns to the course next week when it travels to Montgomery for the Bentwater Intercollegiate, Oct. 11-13 at Bentwater Country Club.
