Golf Wraps Up Play at Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

Loxley, Ala. — The Rice golf team finished in 13th-place with a score of 884 (304-289-291) at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational.
Senior Jake Benson, junior Thomas Bockholt III and sophomore Rodrigo Martin all tied for 47th-place at six-over par. Benson and Bockholt both carded 72's while Martin posted a 73. It was Benson's team-leading fifth round of par or better this year and the 47th of his career. Bockholt has two rounds of par or better this year and seven in his career.
Freshman Raghav Chugh finished nine-over par in a 61st -place tie after closing with a 74 and senior Jack Diamond posted an 81 to close in a tie for 73rd-place.
No. 49 Missouri won the team competition at 17-under par, two strokes in front of Kentucky. Mississippi State's Ford Clegg earned medalist honors at 11-under par, two strokes in front of UK's Garrett Wood.
NEXT UP
The Owls will now take the winter off before opening the 2022 spring slate Feb. 14-15 at the Border Olympics in Laredo.
