Golf in Seventh-Place at Border Olympics

Laredo, Texas — The Rice golf team is in seventh-place with a score of 588 after two rounds of the Border Olympics.
The Owls opened with a 303 before firing a three-under par 285.
Freshman Raghav Chugh is tied for eighth-place at three-under par after firing rounds of 72-69. He now has a team-high five rounds of par or better while recording his second round in the 60's. He also tied a season-low 36-hole score of 139.
Sophomore Rodrigo Martin is tied for 22nd-place at two-over par. He opened the day with a 77 but came back with a season-best score of 69 in the second round, his third round of par or better this year, and the ninth of his career. It's also his third career round in the 60's.
Junior Thomas Bockholt III is seven-over par in a 46th-place tie after rounds of 78-73. Seniors Harrison Hineline (+9) and Jack Diamond (+12) are tied for 58th and 71st-place respectively. Hineline carded rounds of 79-74 while Diamond posted 76-80.
Houston leads the team competition at nine-under par, seven strokes in front of No. 50 Baylor and Sam Houston. Baylor's Johnny Keefer leads the individual competition at seven-under par, one stroke in front of Lamar's Hugo Hellman.

The final round begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. Rice is paired with Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, and UTSA.
