Golf Posts Best Round of the Day at All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, Texas — Rice carded a five-under par 283, the best round of the day and one of just three rounds under par, to sit in a third-place tie after two rounds of the season-opening All-American Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 7,096-yard Golf Club of Houston.
Junior Jake Benson is tied for ninth-place at two-under par after firing his second consecutive 71. He has 10 rounds of par or better this year and 33 in his career.
Freshman Thomas Bockholt III posted the second best round of the day, firing a career-best 68 to sit in a tie for 13th-place at one-under par. It is his first career round in the 60's and second career round of par or better. His 36-hole score of 143 is also a career-low.
Sophomore Campbell Gibson is even par and tied for 19th-place after carding a 74. Junior Rishi Kejriwal and senior Nicholas Duggan are tied for 30th-place at two-over par. Kejriwal carded an even par 72, his fourth round of par or better this year and the 11th of his career, while Duggan posted a 74.
Sophomore Austin Escamilla is tied for 61st-place at eight-over par after carding a season-best 72, his first round of par or better this year and the seventh of his career, and freshman Forrest Park posted an 81 to sit in a 76th-place tied.
The Owls are tied with Conference USA foe UTSA. Sam Houston State leads the tournament at 12-under par, four strokes in front of No. 8 Wake Forest. Sam Houston State's Luis Carrera leads the individual tournament at 10-under par, four strokes in front of Wake Forest's Alex Fitzpatrick.
