
10 Owls Honored by C-USA Coaches

Blaze Alldredge and Austin Trammell were named to the All-Conference USA football first team by league coaches, highlighting a total of 10 Owls where were cited by the conference on Monday.
Jordan Myers was named to the second team while Jake Bailey, Shea Baker, DeBraylon Carroll, Mike Collins, Clay Servin and Jovaun Woolford earned honorable mention honors. Punter Charlie Mendes was named to the all-freshman team.
Alldredge, who was a repeat selection on the first team, was third in the conference with 9.4 tackles per game and was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Owls 20-0 shutout at No. 15 Marshall. He reached double figures in three of five games, was credited with a tackle for loss in each game and ended the season with a streak of 16 consecutive games with a tackle for loss.
Trammell led the Owls in all-purpose yards (335) and touchdowns (6) and tied for the team lead in receptions (16). Prior to missing the final two games of the season, he led C-USA in points per game (12.7) and 20.9 yards per receptions, was 2nd in receiving yards per game (111.7) and 3rd in receptions per game (5.3). His six touchdown receptions are the most by an Owl in C-USA play since Jordan Taylor had six in nine games in 2014. Trammell also received honorable mention honors as a kick returner, averaging 27.3 yards per return.
Although listed as a tight end, Myers once again handled multiple assignments for the Owls including running back on goal line as well as punt and kick returns. He led the Owls with 24 receptions and his 4.8 receptions per game were a career high. He opened the season by matching his career best with six receptions vs. Middle Tennessee then surpassed that with eight catches for 73 yards vs. North Texas and eclipsed that number with nine vs. UAB.
Bailey was second on the team with 23 receptions, 276 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions. He shouldered a greater amount of the workload after Trammell was injured, catching a career-best seven passes against Marshall and then matching it the following week vs. UAB. He also received honorable mention honors as a punt returner, averaging 20 yards per punt.
Mendes averaged 42.8 yards on 21 punts, placing nine of them inside the 20 with only one touchback. He twice pinned Marshall inside its 15-yard line in the third quarter to force the Herd to drive the length of the field in their attempt to rally against the Owls.
Collins led the Owls with 802 yards and 10 touchdowns in three games before suffering an injury. His 802 yards are the most for an Owl in C-USA action since Tyler Stehling threw for 1,412 in eight games in 2016 and his 10 TD passes in conference play are the the most in a season since Driphus Jackson threw 14 in eight games in 2015. He was leading the conference with a passer rating of 176.0 (11th nationally) and 267.3 yards per game. (24th) before his injury.
Carroll tied for second on the team with three tackles for loss in his first year as a starter. He was credited with 1.5 sacks for a loss of 13 yards and a pair of hurries in the shutout at Marshall. He finished sixth on team with 21 tackles.
Baker, Servin and Woolford each started all five games for the Owls in 2020 and Baker was named the offensive player of the game vs. Marshall for his work against the Herd defensive front.
