Zipoli Signs with Owls

Rice women's tennis coach Elizabeth Schmidt announced the signing of high school standout Allison Zipoli to a national letter of intent to join the Owls in the fall of 2021.
Zipoli is ranked as a five-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net and was ranked as high as 27th among high school seniors this past year. She won a Level 3 USTA singles and a Level 2 doubles tournament in 2019, reached the finals in a second doubles tournament.
"We are thrilled to welcome Alli to the Rice family," Schmidt said. "When we first started recruiting her, we knew immediately she would be an excellent fit at Rice. Not only is she one of the top players in the nation, but she is also an exceptional student who values hard work in all that she does. She has an infectious positive energy about her and is as feisty a competitor as they come.
"With her brother Jake playing at Xavier and her mom being a former college tennis player at North Carolina, tennis runs deep in Alli's family. We are grateful the Zipoli family has put their trust in us and we cannot wait for Alli to step foot on South Main," Schmidt added.
