Bui Blazes To 200-Butterfly Title Saturday

Owl Swimmers Finish Second Overall
HOUSTON - After winning 100-yard butterfly on Friday, Brittany Bui blazed to the event title in the 200-butterfly on Saturday's final round of action at the annual Phill Hansel Invitational across town at the U.H. Rec Center Natatorium.
Bui earned the No. 1 seed for the 200-Fly's finals by posting a prelim time of 1:58.43 that is the second-fastest mark in school history. The Sugar Land, Texas, native wasn't quite finished. She then went even faster in the evening finals to win the 200 over a starting field of 67 entries with a NCAA Provisional time of 1:57.60 - inching ever closer to the school record 1:57.28 set by Casey Clark five years ago.
Another of Rice's top performances Saturday was Kate Nezelek's second place finish in the 100-freestyle with a time of 49.34 that is the second-fastest in school history. True freshman Shannon Campbell likewise scored big for the Blue & Gray with a second place finish in the mile (16:42.67).
As a team Rice finished second in the 13-team standings with 1,146 points, the Owls' best score at this meet in the last five years. Rice's individual scorers from Friday's action, and the Top 5 scoring Owls for the three-day meet, are as follows:
