Rice Soccer Series History vs. Middle Tennessee
DALLAS – The No. 3 seed Rice soccer team is scheduled to face No. 6 seed Middle Tennessee at 4:30 pm Wednesday (Nov. 6) in the opening round of the annual Conference USA Championship, the league office announced Saturday.
Rice is advancing to the C-USA's postseason event for the tenth year in a row. After a late-ending, double-overtime tie vs. North Texas on Friday (Nov. 1) the Owls finished the regular season with a 9-5-3 overall record. The Blue & Gray posted a 6-1-3 mark in conference to tie for third place in the league standings with Charlotte, but Rice earned the No. 3 seed over the 49ers based on a head-to-head victory earlier in the year.
Middle Tennessee enters Wednesday's match with an 8-9-1 record and a 5-4-1 C-USA ledger. On Sept. 26 the Owls and the Blue Raiders finished in a 2-2 tie in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The advancing team in Wednesday's Rice/MT tournament match is scheduled to face either North Texas or UTEP at 7 pm on Nov. 8.
