Schwartz Named C-USA Freshman of the Week

DALLAS –Rice women's basketball wing Lauren Schwartz was selected the Conference USA Freshman of the Week following her stellar performance against No. 5 Texas A&M, the league office announced on Monday.
Schwartz, from Union, Ky., poured in a season-high 19 points in 35 minutes against the Aggies in Rice's narrow 62-61 loss. The freshman came alive in the second half with 14 of her 19 points and finished the game making 5-of-12 shots from the field (2-of-4 from beyond the arc) and a 7-of-8 performance at the free throw line. Schwartz also contributed six rebounds, second-most on the Owls.
Rice (2-2) will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Stillwater, Okla. to face the Oklahoma State Cowgirls at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
