Lennon (MVP), Woogk named to All-Tournament Team
By Kenny Bybee (kab10@rice.edu)
WACO, Texas – Four Rice Owls totaled 10 or more kills while three more posted double-doubles in a hard-fought, four set loss (19-25, 21-25, 25-16, 21-25) at No. 15 Baylor Saturday evening on day two of the Baylor Classic.
Rice (6-3) totaled more kills (57-52), digs (81-70), and blocks (11.0-8.0) than the Bears (6-3), but Baylor committed eight fewer attack error than the Owls.
By virtue of fewest sets lost, the Owls were awarded the tournament title while sophomore Nicole Lennon (MVP) and junior Tori Woogk (Best Attacker) were named to the Baylor Classic All-Tournament Team.
RICE HEAD COACH GENNY VOLPE
"We needed just a bit more to defeat a very good Baylor team. We just need to take more risks and trust we will continue to grow and improve by taking those risks. Anota had a breakout match, which was awesome to see. She has been impressive in practices but was able to showcase her abilities today against a very good opponent. We are looking forward to four solid matches this week before conference begins."
HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 2

Set 3
Woogk helped Rice stay alive with a monster third set performance, totaling six kills, which included a stretch of four consecutive kills to help the Owls go on a 7-1 run and take control of the set. After Baylor had managed to cut the deficit to 18-15, Rice used a 6-1 run to put the frame away, 25-16. During that run Adekunle posted four kills to go along with one of her four blocks.
Set 4
