The Rice women's tennis team made the potential threat of rain a moot point, by racing to a 4-0 win over UTRGV at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Friday.
The match was moved up an hour due to the threat of rain on Friday afternoon, and the Owls stormed out of the gate to take the doubles point in rapid fashion. They kept up their pace in singles, deflecting a short delay for a passing bout of light rain.
The Owls were back in action for the first time since Tuesday's marathon battle with Colorado on the road in Boulder and Owls head coach Elizabeth Schmidt was pleased with the focus the team showed in their return to the court.
"It was a nice exclamation point on our Spring Break. I thought we stayed focused, we moved well and took care of business. Overall, I think it was a good Spring Break for our team. We grew a lot and really showed a lot of toughness. We'll have the weekend off, but I'm excited to get back to work on Monday and get back to work to get ready for William & Mary and Princeton. "
