Owl Sophomore Earns Honor For Second Time This Season
Last weekend Bui swept both butterfly events, and was a contributor in the 400-IM and on a relay race, as the Rice swim team split a pair of dual meets against a pair of power-five opponents on the road in College Station, Texas. With Bui scoring big for the Owls, Rice coasted past TCU in a dual meet Saturday (Dec. 1) by the score of 197-93. In the other half of the dual meet No. 3 ranked Texas A&M defeated Rice 177-111.
Bui was sound and solid winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.00. The sophomore from Houston then returned to win the 100-fly over a starting field of 15 other competitors with a steady 55.29. For good measure Bui swam the butterfly leg of the Owls' 200-medley relay that defeated TCU to finish third overall with a time of 1:43.14. She also showed some versatility by swimming in the 400-IM for the first time and scored for the Owls with a mark of 4:28.73.
It is the second time this season for Bui to be named the C-USA Swimmer of the Week. She earned the honor for the first time on Oct. 24.
The Owls are next in action at C-USA foe Florida Atlantic on December 20 (Thurs.). The annual FAU Fun Invitational meet features ten women's teams from around the country competing in a total of 14 different events.
