Owls Place Pair in Preseason Rankings

Returning All-American Katherine Ip and Miami transfer Wendy Zhang will open their fall tournament schedules ranked in the Oracle/ITA national singles and doubles rankings, which were announced on Tuesday.
Ip, who became the third Rice women's tennis player to earn All-America honors in singles by reaching the Round of 16 last May, is ranked 26th in singles, while Zhang will open fall play ranked 58th. Zhang and junior Lindsey Hodge are ranked 28th in the preseason doubles poll while Ip and incoming freshman Priya Niezgoda are ranked 58th.
The four-time Conference USA champion Owls will open their 2016 fall season on September 23rd when they host the Rice Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
