OMAHA, Neb. -- Owl true freshman Marie-Claire Schillinger wrapped-up her second, and the Rice swim program's final, event Thursday at the United States Olympic Swim Trial held this week in Omaha, Neb.
Schillinger swam a long-course time of 2:37.09 in the prelims of the 200-meter breaststroke to finish 96th among a field of 124 competitors. Last spring at the Conference USA Championships Schillinger won the individual league title, and set the new Rice record, in the short-course 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.84. Thursday's 200-breaststroke was her second race in the Trials in just two days after competing at the 100-m breaststroke on Tuesday.
Under the direction of Rice head coach Seth Huston a total of three Owls competed in four events at the 2016 Trials. The sophomore duo of Kiley Beall and Kaitlyn Swinney competed in the 100-backstroke and 400-individual medley, respectively.
