Owls Sweep Through First Day of Invite

The Rice women's tennis team opened their 2015 Fall Invitational in dominant fashion, posting an unbeated record in 14 singles and four doubles matches at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Friday.
Lindsey Hodge and Katherine Ip advanced to the semifinals in Flight 1, as did Emily Smith and Savannah Durkin in Flight 2 and Solomiya Zinko, Alison Ho and Fernanda Astete in Flight 3.
In doubles play the Rice teams of Hodge and Ho and Ip and Smith won their opening matches in Filight 1,while Durkin and Astete in Flight 2.
Action continues on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with quarterfinal action in doubles, followed by the semifinal action in singles.
