Owls Open Fall Campaign in Midland

The Rice women's tennis team will open up their fall tournament season on Friday when four members of the squad travel to Midland, Texas to compete in the Racquet Club of Midland Invitational.
Junior Alison Ho and sophomore Lindsey Hodge will be joined by freshmen Fernanda Astete and Emily Smith in Midland. Rice head coach Elizabeth Schmidt said she was looking forward to getting her team on the courts.
"This weekend is really about getting some match play against different people besides ourselves," Schmidt said. "We always enjoy the Midland tournament. The people there are really nice and it's a nice way to start the season and have our freshmen experience what college tennis is like."
