
Flanigan Closes Out Olympic Trials Action In 200-Meter Butterfly

Rice's Erin Flanigan swam a 2:16.94 in the morning preliminary round of the 200-meter butterfly Thursday (June 28) at the U.S. Olympic Trials. The Owl standout from Austin finished 70th out 135 of the top women's swimmers in the United States. She did not advance to the event finals scheduled for later in the evening.
After swimming the 400-meter freestyle on Tuesday, Flanigan has closed-out her participation in the Olympic Trials. Along with Rice teammate Casey Clark, two Owls represented the swim program at the U.S. Trials - biggest swim meet in the country this year. Their respective finishes at the meet were as follows:

200-meter butterfly, 2:16.94 (70 among 135 entrants);
400-meter freestyle, 4:21.99 (85 among 113 entrants;
Casey Clark
100-meter butterfly, 1:02.38 (108 among a field of 162 entrants);
200-meter freestyle, 2:05.87 (87 among 99 entrants);
