Owls Drop UTA in Season Finale

The 42nd ranked Rice men's tennis team shook off a sluggish start to take a 5-2 win over UT-Arlington and send senior Oscar Podlewski out a winner on Senior Day.
Podlewski ran his season singles record to 14-6, tops on the team, but needed a third set super tiebreaker to do so. He also combined with Harry Fowler to complete a sweep of the doubles matches which gave the Owls an early lead they would never relinquish.
The Owls (15-8) added to their lead with quick wins by Christian Saravia and Sam Garforth-Bles and Michael Nuesslein provided the clinching fourth point with a straight set win at No. 5.
Rice will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma this week to open defense of their Conference USA title on Friday at the Case Tennis Center.
