Sooners Race Past Owls

The Oklahoma Sooners won their third consecutive dual match, racing past the Rice Owls 6-1 on Sunday at Gregg Wadley Tennis Pavilion in Norman, Oklahoma on Sunday.
The 26th ranked Sooners grabbed the doubles point by taking two of three matches, then moved swiftly to clinch the match with straight-set wins in five of six singles matches.
Senior Oscar Podlewski led the Owls on the afternoon. He teamed with Harry Fowler to claim Rice's lone win in doubles, taking a 9-8 tie-breaker over the Sooner tandem of Ionut Beleleu and Tsvetan Mihov. He then came back to give the Owls their lone point on the day, winning a third-set super-tiebreaker over Peerakit Siributwong.
The Owls will return to Jake Hess Tennis Stadium next weekend to wrap up the 2011 regular season, with matches against C-USA rival SMU on Saturday and UT-Arlington on Sunday. Both matches are schedule for first serve at 11 a.m.
