TCU Rallies Past Rice

March 20, 2011
TCU won all four singles matches that were extended to three sets to rally from a 3-0 deficit and defeat the Rice women's tennis team, 4-3, at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on Sunday. It marked the 11th consecutive win for TCU over Rice in women's tennis.
The doubles point proved to be prophetic for the closeness of the match, as all three matches went the distance before the Owls could claim the point.
Rebekka Hänle and Ana Guzman downed TCU's 52nd ranked duo of Katariina Tuohimaa and Federica Denti, 9-7. Jessica Jackson and Daniella Trigo followed with a 9-7 win at No. 3 to give the Owls the point, while Alex Rasch and Dominique Harmath made it a sweep for the doubles teams after taking the tie-breaker 7-3 and post a 9-8 win.
In singles, the Owls pair of freshmen, Harmath and Kim Anicete each posted straight set wins to push the Owls margin to 3-0, setting the stage for the TCU comeback. The Horned Frogs took the first set in three of the four remaining matches, only to see the Owls battle back for force third sets.
The Owls will be back on the Jake Hess courts on Friday when they host Wichita State at 11 a.m.
