
Ennis Named C-USA Freshman of the Week

Rice University's Dylan Ennis has been named Conference USA's Freshman of the Week.
In a pair of wins over the past week, Ennis averaged 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while playing an average of 19.5 minutes a game in a pair of decisive Rice wins. For the week, the Brampton, Ontario, native shot 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range as the Owls improved to 3-0 to start the season.
Ennis scored 14 points and had five rebounds in the Owls' 80-65 win over Southern last Thursday. He had seven points, three rebounds and four assists in Sunday's 81-49 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Through three games, Ennis is averaging 9.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Owls, now 3-0, wrap up a home stand to begin the season when they take on Florida A&M Tuesday night in a campus site game of the South Padre Island Invitational. Tip-off for Tuesday's game is 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast by 1560 The Game (KGOW).
On Tuesday, the Owls will look to start a season 4-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 squad got out to a 6-0 start en route to a 19-12 record and an appearance in the NIT.
Florida A&M is 0-3 following an 87-65 loss at Providence in another campus site game of the South Padre Invitational.
FAMU sophomore guard Avery Moore is averaging 12 points per game to lead the Rattlers. Sophomore guard Reggie Lewis comes off the bench to average 9.3 points an outing.
Despite only taking two field goal attempts in Sunday's win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, Tamir Jackson leads the Owls in scoring at 13 points per game. Arsalan Kazemi is averaging a double-double at 10.7 points and 11 rebounds an outing.
Through three games, Rice is shooting 50 percent from the field and outscoring opponents by an average of 27 points per game. The owls also have a +20 rebounding margin.
Following Tuesday's game, the Owls travel to South Padre Island for the final games of the tournament Friday and Saturday. Rice will take on Northern Iowa Friday then play Iowa State Saturday in a game which will be broadcast by CBS Sports Network.
