Lone Star State of Mind
Rice is opening the 2010 season by playing seven games before the Owls ever cross the Texas border. After last week's opener against Texas, Rice travels to Denton to take on North Texas this week. The Owls' Rice Stadium opener against Northwestern on Sept. 18 begins a three-game home stand which includes a couple in-state rivals, Baylor and SMU. The Owls are on the road at UTEP on Oct. 9 before playing host to crosstown rival Houston on Oct. 16. Rice finally journeys out of state, taking on UCF in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 23.
Roadies:
The Owls will be looking to end a six-game losing streak on the road overall, as well as a six-game road slide against non-conference opponents. Their last win away from Reliant Stadium in the regular season was a 49-44 win at UTEP in 2008. Their last win against a non-conference opponent on the road was on September 30, 2006 when they defeated Army 48-14.
