
Rice Drops 4-3 Decision to Ohio State

HOUSTON - Ohio State came back from losing the doubles point to win four points in singles play, including a pair of matches decided in three sets, to beat Rice 4-3 Saturday at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
With the win, No. 45 Ohio State improved to 14-4 while Rice, ranked No. 40, dropped to 9-6 on the year. The Owls travel to Tampa, Fla., April 2 to take on USF and will also play Virginia Commonwealth during the road trip.
On Saturday, Rice got wins at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to earn the first point of the match.
Jessica Jackson, ranked 106th in the nation, posted a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 win over Kelsey Haviland at No. 3 singles and Rebecca Lin's 7-5, 7-5 win over Christina Keesey at No. 5 had the matched tied at 3-3. But OSU's Gabby Steele was able to close out the match with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Ana Guzman to give the Buckeyes the team victory.
