Long, Bradshaw and Ozougwu Earn Academic All-District Accolades

Seniors Brandon Long and Cheta Ozougwu and junior Travis Bradshaw have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America for their efforts in the classroom by being selected to the 2010 ESPN Academic All-District VI Football Team.
This is the first time Long and Ozougwu have been recognized, while this is Bradshaw's third consecutive selection to the District VI team. Each player will be placed on the ballot to determine the 2010 ESPN Academic All-America Team.
Long has handled all of the Owls deep snapping duties for the past four years while posting a 3.70 GPA as a dual major in Environmental Engineering Sciences & Economics. Ozougwu, who has a cumulative 3.41 GPA while majoring in Economics, has made 39 career start (30 consecutive) for the Owls at defensive end. He leads the Owls with 3.5 tackles for loss and leads the defensive line with 36 tackles.
Bradshaw carries a 3.44 GPA in Chemical Engineering and is second on the team with 57 tackles this year. He ranks eighth nationally among active players with 198 career unassisted tackles and is tied for fifth with eight career forced fumbles. He has 268 career total tackles and needs 11 to move into 10th on the Rice career tackle list.
The 2010 ESPN Academic All-America Team will be announced on November 23.
