- Rice captains for the East Carolina game were Pierre Beasley, Travis Bradshaw, Cheta Ozougwu, and Jake Hicks. East Carolina won the pregame coin toss and received.
- Running back Jeremy Eddington lined up as quarterback for Rice's first two plays of scrimmage. Taylor McHargue then came in as QB and completed a pass for 13 yards for a first down on the Owls' third offensive play.
- With Jeremy Eddington starting at QB today, it marks the first time that the Owls have had three different starting QBs since the 2006 season, when Chase Clement, Joel Armstrong, and John Thomas Shepherd all made starts as the Rice signal-caller.
- Jeremy Eddington rushed for a team-high four TDs vs. ECU and now has eight on the season for the Owls.
- Eddington's four rushing TDs makes him the eighth Owl to rush for four TDs in a game. No one has rushed for five and Griff Vance holds the school record with six rushing TDs vs. SMU (Nov. 17, 1916).
- Jeremy Eddington's 88-yard TD run was the Owls longest rushing play of the season. It is also the fourth-longest TD rush in the history of Rice football tying him with Bob Nemir vs. Southwestern (Oct. 6, 1945). It is however the second-longest Rice rushing play in Rice Stadium, behind Kyle Herm's 95-yarder vs. Nevada on Nov. 1, 2003.
- Sam McGuffie rushed for 44 yards on a play in the first quarter, his second-longest dash of the season.
- Sam McGuffie rushed for his fifth TD of the season on Rice's sixth TD of the game (41-28).
- Taylor McHargue's 64-yard TD (seventh Rice TD of the game) pass to Sam McGuffie is the longest passing TD of the season by Rice. It is also the longest receiving catch by an Owl in 2010. It also the longest since Nick Fanuzzi found Toren Dixon on an 80-yard TD play last season in the second quarter, ironically also against East Carolina.
- The Owls have scored on 7 of their first 11 possessions this season.
- Vance McDonald caught his team-leading seventh TD pass on the Owls' second score of the day from Taylor McHargue (his third TD pass).
- Vance McDonald is now tied for sixth on the Rice season TD reception list with Bill Howton (1951) and David Houser (1978).
- Rice has had first quarter leads in four games this season: vs. Texas (3-0), vs. North Texas (16-7), vs. Houston (13-7), and vs. East Carolina (14-7).
- Rice led at the half 34-28 and it is the third time in 2010 that the Owls have led at the half. Other half-time leads: vs. North Texas (23-21), and vs. Houston (27-14).
- Freshman kicker Chris Boswell has now made 35 of 38 PATs this season, which is fifth-best by an Owl in a season and tying him with Johnny Bagwell (1993) and Clark Fangmeier (2006) for most PATs in a season.
- Pierre Beasley caught his first TD pass on the season on the Owls' fifth TD score of the game. It was also Taylor McHargue's fourth TD pass of the season.
- Travis Bradshaw's interception in the second quarter is his second of the season and the Owls' fifth. It is also his second INT in his career.
- Redshirt freshman Paul Porras caught his first interception of his career when he did so in the fourth quarter. He also recovered his first fumble of his young career also in the fourth quarter.
- The Owls' 62 point-total is the most-ever scored by Rice in the short four-game series history vs. East Carolina. Its previous high was 28 in the first game vs. the Pirates on Oct. 8, 2005, in Greenville, N.C.
- 62 points is also the most points that Rice has scored since it tallied 77 against North Texas in 2008, and ranks as the fourth-highest in school history behind 146 vs. SMU (1916), 77 vs. North Texas (2008), and 63 vs. San Jose State (2004).
- Rice's 24-point margin of victory today is the largest of the 2010 season.
- Rice's 645 total offensive yards is the most since 700 vs. Tulsa in 2007 and it ranks fourth in school history.
- Kyle Martens has had 19 of 47 punts this season downed inside the 20. Eleven (11) of those 19 have been downed inside or at the 10-yard line.
- Travis Bradshaw, with four tackles vs. ECU, is now 10th all-time for career tackles at Rice with 281. Travis Orgtega is ninth at 286.
