The Rice women's tennis team opened their weekend schedule with a 7-0 victory over Texas Pan American on Friday morning at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
After the courts were cleared of any remaining water after Thursday night's rainstorms, the Owls stormed through the doubles matches, grabbing the point while losing just three combined games.
That momentum carried over into the singles matches, as they took all six in straight sets.
"This was a good match for us because they went out and implemented some of the things we've been working on in practice," Rice head coach Elizabeth Schmidt said. "This was a good chance to gain a little momentum heading into the match tomorrow with Tulsa," she added.
The Owls will host 50th-ranked Tulsa at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium. The Golden Hurricane is coming off a win at No. 27 Texas on Wednesday.
