IRVING, Tex. -- Rice senior Pam Zelnick was named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, while Audra Egenholf of SMU earned Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday (Dec. 8) from its headquarters in Irving, Tex.
Over the weekend Zelnick won the 100-yard breaststroke against No. 8 ranked Texas A&M with a season-best time of 1:05.90, one of the top marks in the conference this year. The Troy, Ohio native also swam the second leg of the Owls' 400-freestlye relay that posted a season-best time of 3:31.11. This is Zelnick's second time this season to earn the C-USA Swimmer of the Week honor and fourth of her career.
Egenholf finished in first place on the platform and second on the one-meter springboard at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. The junior qualified for the NCAA Zone meet at the Invitational.
The Rice swim team takes a slight break from action while the University enters its final exams period for the fall semester. The Owls return to competition with a three-day multi-meet at the Delta State Invitational in Cleveland, Miss., from Dec. 19-21.
