
UALR Beats Rice 73 to 54

Houston - Chasity Reed scored 29 points to rally UALR from a 10-point second-half deficit to a 73-54 win over Rice inside Tudor Fieldhouse. Rice falls to 0-4 on the season, while the Trojans improve to 3-1 overall. Morgan Mayse led the Owls with 10 points.
Rice was ahead at the half 28 to 25 and scored the first seven points of the second-half on buckets by Jackie Stanley, Mayse, and a three-pointer from Tara Watts to forge a 10-point lead at 35-25 (18:33). But, UALR proceeded to go on a 30 to 2 run to take a 55 to 37 lead.
In that stretch, Rice was scoreless from 18:33 to 13:36 when Megan Elliott scored for the Owls. Rice then did not make another field goal until Mayse scored at 8:02.
Stanley and Watts each had 9 points and Elliott tallied 8 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Besides Reed, UALR's Asriel Rolfe scored 13 points with 6 assists and Shanika Butler added 11 points. The Trojans shot 69 percent from the field in the second-half and 47 percent for the game.
The Owls now get ready for the Wyndham Miami Thanksgiving Tournament this weekend in Miami, Fla. Rice plays UMass on Friday at 4 p.m. (Central) and either Long Beach State or the University of Miami on Saturday.
