- Rice captains for the Tulsa game were TE James Casey, DB Andrew Sendejo, LB Brian Raines and WR Jarett Dillard.
- With 3:06 to play in the first half, Jarett Dillard caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Chase Clement. The pass reception was Dillard's 51st touchdown reception, breaking the NCAA record of 50 TD receptions he shared with Troy Edwards of Louisiana Tech. The Clement-Dillard combination raised their NCAA record for touchdown passes by a duo to 42.
- Dillard also passed Tulane's JaJuan Dawson to move to third on the Conference USA all-time catches list. Dillard, who was previous tied with Dawson with 236, now has 243. Houston's Vincent Marshall is second on the list with 272. Dillard also passed Houston's Donnie Avery (3,289 yards) to move into third on the C-USA all-time receiving yard list. Dillard now has 3,389 yards.
- Dillard finished the game with seven receptions for 142 yards. It was his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game and 13th of his career. Dillard had six, 100-yard receiving games in 2006 and three all of last year.
- Dillard extended his streak to 42 straight games with at least two receptions with a pair of catches on the Owls' second offensive series.
- The only Rice passing record senior quarterback Chase Clement did not have - passing attempts - was finally set against Tulsa. With 42 attempts against Tulsa, Casey now has 1,124, breaking Randy Hertel's record of 1,121.
- Junior running back Jeramy Goodson saw his first career rushing yards against Tulsa, starting with a seven-yard, second-quarter run. Goodson entered the night with two pass receptions for 21 yards this season. He also threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Jarett Dillard a week earlier against North Texas.
- Junior defensive back Christopher Douglas intercepted a pass for the second straight game. Douglas' third quarter pick set up a two-yard touchdown pass from James Casey to Taylor Wardlow. Casey's touchdown pass was the sophomore's first of his career while Wardlow's TD reception to cut a third-quarter Tulsa lead to 35-21, was the junior tight end's first TD reception of the season.
- Casey also ran for a two-yard touchdown in the first quarter and caught a six-yard touchdown pass in the fourth. For the game, Casey caught nine passes for 120 yards, carried the ball 109 times for 31 yards and completed his lone pass attempt for a score. The game marked Casey's third 100-yard receiving game of the year.
- Casey capped the Owls' longest scoring drive of the year (by time) when he dove into the end zone from two yards out to tie the Tulsa game, 7-7, with 2:00 left in the first quarter. The drive was 12 plays, 74 yards and consumed 5:21. The previous long drive by time was a 5:01 drive against Vanderbilt which was also capped by a two-yard Casey run.
- Casey, who was listed as the Owls' starter at tight end, started the Tulsa game in the backfield at running back.He also had his first career punt return during the game. He returned a 40-yard punt one yard before being brought down.
- Senior linebacker Brian Raines returned to action after missing the past three games with an injury. Raines entered the game to start the Owls' second series of the game. He was credited with a tackle on his first play. Raines went on to register seven tackles (two solo stops and five assists) on the night.
- Toren Dixon caught a career high seven passes for 69 yards. It equaled his previous career mark set last season against Tulsa.
- Rice red-shirt freshman linebacker Tanner Shuck played at nearby Jenks High School and played several games Tulsa's stadium during his prep career.
- When Chase Clement fumbled with 11:06 to play in the second quarter, it ended a Rice streak of nine straight quarters without a turnover and 11 quarters without a fumble lost. The Owls' fumble lost came in the second quarter of the Vanderbilt game and the last turnover was in the fourth quarter of the same game. Rice had played turnover free its last two games (at Texas on Sept. 20 and last week against North Texas).
- Rice will have an open week before playing host to Southern Miss on Oct. 18th.
