2007-08 Rice Swim Schedule
A dozen regular season meets, including two on campus and six in the city of Houston, highlight the Rice swim team's new 2007-08 schedule announced Owls' head coach Seth Huston.
The 2007-08 season officially starts on Oct. 12 with a double-dual meet on the road in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Owls face event host New Mexico State and the University of Northern Colorado Oct. 12-13. Rice returns home to participate in the annual Phill Hansel Duals, a multi-team event hosted across town at the University of Houston on Oct. 26-27.
Perhaps the Owls' biggest event of the year is one of the only two home meets the team will host all season when Rice takes on national power Texas A&M on Jan. 11. The start time for the dual meet against the Aggies is set for 2 pm at the Rice Pool. The Blue & Gray close out the regular season with a home dual meet against the University of New Orleans on Feb. 1.
The Texas A&M and UNO meets start and close a busy regular season spring schedule. The Owls swim against longtime rivals SMU and North Texas on the road Jan. 18-19. The team competes across town at the University of Houston for a second time as part of a double-dual against the Cougars and SEC power LSU on Jan. 25-26. As was the case a year ago when the Owls posted their highest-ever finish in a conference meet, Rice and all the C-USA schools will be back at the UH Rec Center Natatorium for the annual C-USA championships in late February.
The swimmers travel from coast-to-coast, from California to Florida for meets in the months of November and December. Rice will have its work cut out for it competing at the Speedo Cup in Irvine, Calif., Nov. 15-17. The team wraps-up its annual winter training at the West Florida Relays in Largo, Fla., on December 29.
The college swim season concludes with the NCAA Championships March 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio. The 2007-08 Rice swim schedule can be viewed at the above link.
