Rice Falls at No. 52 San Diego State

SAN DIEGO -- The No. 71 Rice women closed out their California road trip with a 5-2 loss at No. 52 San Diego State on Saturday in dual-match action.
Dominique Karas had a solid day to lead the Owls' effort. The redshirt sophomore teamed with Rebecca Lin at No. 2 doubles for an 8-6 win. Karas then scored Rice's first point of the day with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles against Esther Cadua.
Also scoring on Saturday for the Owls on Saturday was freshman Julie Chao, who rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) triumph at No. 1 singles against Holly Bagshaw.
Rice returns to action next Saturday when the Owls host longtime foe TCU in a 1:30 pm match at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium.
