Ghoram Named C-USA Co-Player of the Week

DALLAS - Rice University sophomore guard Lawrence Ghoram has been named the Conference USA Co-Player of the Week after a career day in the Owls' come-from-behind win against TCU on Saturday. UCF's Jermaine Taylor shared the honor with Ghoram which was announced by the C-USA office on Monday.
Ghoram sparked the Owls by scoring a career-high 26 points and pulling down a career-best 10 rebounds against the Horned Frogs. Eight of his 10 rebounds came on the offensive glass and led to six, second-half Rice points. The sophomore had never scored in double figures (his previous career high was eight points) but he went 10-for-16 from the field in a career-high 34 minutes of play.
Rice trailed by 17 at one point in the first half and 15 at intermission before rallying for the win. Ghoram scored the first seven points of the second half to cut TCU's lead to under 10 points. He finished with 15 second-half points.
It was Ghoram's first C-USA honor and the first by a Rice player this season.
Taylor, who has led the Knights in scoring in nine straight contests, averaged 25.2 points in a pair of games for UCF last week. Against Connecticut, he scored a career-high 30 points. On the week, Taylor shot 50 percent from the floor and 56 percent from three-point range (9-of-16).
