Swimmers Compete At UH This Weekend

HOUSTON -- The Rice swim team returns to competition with head-to-head dual meets against no less than four different opponents in the annual Phill Hansel Duals Weekend on Oct. 26-27 across town at the University of Houston Rec Center Natatorium. The Owls take on a powerhouse field including BYU, Florida International, the University of New Orleans and meet host Houston. Start times are 5 pm Friday and 11:30 am on Saturday.
The two-day, multi-dual format features 17 individual swimming events, including four relays. The meet also has two springboard diving events (but Rice does not field a diving program). A unique feature of the Hansel Duals is that one team may finish the weekend action with as many as four dual meet wins added to its season results. The Owls are undefeated in four dual meets this season after opening the year with two wins over New Mexico State and Northern Colorado two weeks ago in Las Cruces, N.M.
Admission to the Phill Hansel Duals Weekend is free. The UH Recreation Center Natatorium is located on the corner of Calhoun Blvd. and University Drive (just off the Texas 5 Spur). To view a web map of this location CLICK HERE.
