HOUSTON -- After a stellar weekend, Rice freshman libero Tracey Lam was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Lam (San Francisco, Calif.) posted a career-best 27 digs against Tulane, the best tally by an Owl this season. For the weekend, she averaged an impressive 6.50 DPG, an improvement of 2.71 over her average prior to Friday's match. Additionally, Lam doubled her aces average, finishing with 0.67 SAPG to lead Rice. Her performance against the Green Wave marked the fourth time in the last five matches for Lam to exceed 20 digs in a match.
The Owls went 1-1 on the week with a 3-0 win over UTEP and a 3-1 loss to Tulane. This is Lam's first C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honor.
